About Us

CHATS Productions is a Coffs Harbour based amateur community theatre group.
An incorporated association, CHATS was founded in 1982 and has performed regularly ever since.
We perform at our beloved “home”,
337 Harbour Drive Coffs Harbour.

CHATS produces three shows each year and we try to balance the program by performing at least one Australian work, one dramatic or experimental work and one comedy or small ensemble musical each year.
We run regular play readings of new local works, classical plays and shows we may want to produce.
We try to involve young people when we can.
We have produced many classics including the only full length productions of Shakespeare ever performed in Coffs Harbour including Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, Macbeth and King Lear.

CHATS has presented many amateur premieres of Australian works including Cloudstreet and several David Williamson plays.
Community involvement is important to us; we have involved many local groups in our productions including Coffs Harbour Writers Group, The Julie Ross Dancers, Anglicare, Refugee Support Group, P.C.Y.C. and many others.
CHATS is a foundation member of ACCTS (The Association of Coffs Community Theatre Societies).
CHATS welcomes new members, especially those wishing to perform in one of our productions. Should you wish to become involved please email info@chats.org.au for more information or to join, go to the Forms page and click on the membership application document.
